The Arizona State men's golf team is tied for 12th at the NCAA Championships after the first round at Karsten Creek Golf Course in Stillwater, Okla. The 30 teams will play four rounds and conclude on Friday at the par-72, 7,095 yard course which is the home to the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

The Sun Devils, ranked 10th by Golfstat.com and 16th by Golfweek, shot a 18-over 306, but are just seven shots off the lead as four teams are at 11-over 299. USC is tied for fifth at 12-over 300, and is trying to be just the second school in NCAA golf history to win both the men's and women's titles in the same year, as the Sun Devils notched the feat in 1990. Oklahoma State, North Carolina State, Clemson and Auburn all shot 11-over 299.

Junior Chez Reavie, the 2001 U.S. Public Links champion who tied for fourth at the 2001 NCAA Championships en route to All-America honors, shot a 2-over 74 and is tied for 21st. Kendall Critchfield shot a 3-over 75 and is tied for 29th.

Freshman Alejandro Canizares, the Pac-10 co-Freshman of the Year, shot a 5-over 77 and is tied for 59th.

Minnesota, the defending NCAA champion is at 17-over 305. Arizona State missed the NCAA Championships last year for the first time since 1983. Auburn's Lee Williams shot a 3-under 60 to take the individual lead.
