TEMPE, Ariz. - UCLA's Michelle Turner (14-0) threw a no hitter in the first game and a four hitter in the second game of a doubleheader against 15th-ranked Arizona State (30-23; 7-14 Pac-10) as the second-ranked Bruins (45-6; 17-4 Pac-10) won 8-0 in six innings and 9-0 in five innings.
UCLA struck first in the top of the first inning when Tairia Mims hit a two run home run over the leftfield fence off ASU starter Desiree Serrano (17-14). The Bruins put two more up in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 4-0 off two solo home runs by Stephanie Ramos and Monique Mejia. Claire Sua followed with another two run home run in the fifth inning that went over the right centerfield fence.
The Bruins closed out the game in the sixth with two final runs off of a sacrifice fly by Mejia and a single by Natasha Watley.
In the second game, UCLA exploded for six runs in the first inning, two each coming from Toria Auelua and Watley off ASU starter Ashley Werschky (9-5). The Bruins tagged on another run in the second when Stephanie Ramos homered to centerfield and ended the game with two more in the third inning by way of a Caitlin Benyi home run for the 9-0 margin.
ASU's Jennifer Forner, Kara Brun Keri Pulcifer and Kim Zadrozny collected the four hits for the Sun Devils.
Up next, the Sun Devils will see where they will travel to for NCAA on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. The 64-team selection show will be broadcast on ESPNEWS.
