Sun Devil freshman Alejandro Canizares shot a final round 2-under 70 to win the National Invitational Tournament held at OMNI Tucson National on Tuesday. Canizares shot a 4-under 212 (69-73-70) and topped three golfers at 2-under, including 2003 U.S. Amateur Champion Ricky Barnes of Arizona.

ASU finished in fifth place in the strong field, as fourteen schools competed. The Tucson National Golf Course set layout (par 72, 7,138 yards) was the same for the PGA tour stop, the Chrysler Classic of Tucson.
