TEMPE, Ariz. - The 24th-ranked Arizona State soccer team (8-2-3; 2-0-1 Pac-10)played the University of Arizona (4-7-2; 0-2-1 Pac-10) to a 1-1 tie in double overtime in Tucson on Saturday night. The Sun Devils still stay undefeated in the history of the series at 8-0-1.

The first half was a defensive battle -- the Cats out-shot the Sun Devils, 7-4, for the period, but they had only two shots on-goal. With nine minutes left in the first, sophomore forward Kelly Nelson sent a shot directly at ASU goalkeeper Kim Bingham for the easy save, but freshman Erin Bevacqua made Bingham work for a save in the 39th minute. The two squads were tied, 0-0, at the break.

Arizona came out firing in the second half, rattling off five shots in the first five minutes of the period. During that barrage, junior forward Candice Wilks had a point-blank shot saved in the 48th minute. In the 63rd minute, Wilks fired a shot that Bingham batted out. Wildcat freshman forward Lauren Winters was there to collect the rebound, and she scored her first collegiate goal from about 10 yards out at 62:27.

In the second half, ASU tied the game with less than eight minutes left. Stephanie Ebner threw the ball in from the left side to Patrice Feulner in the box, who tapped it forward for Courtney Crane to score the equalizer at 82:21. The Cats never got off another shot in regulation, and a shot by ASU's Elizabeth Bogus in the 84th minute was stopped by Arizona goalkeeper Natalie Juarez.

Arizona State had three shots during the first overtime period while preventing the Wildcats from taking any shots. In the second overtime, Arizona had a 3-2 edge in shots, but the only one on-goal resulted in an easy save by ASU's Bingham.

Arizona finished the game with a 23-14 advantage in shots, including a 9-7 edge in shots on-goal.

Up next, Arizona State will stay on the road and head to Los Angeles to take on UCLA at 7:00 p.m.
