TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- The eighth-ranked UCLA Bruins made easy work of the Arizona State Sun Devils with a three-game sweep Saturday evening in Pac-10 Volleyball action at Pauley Pavilion. Game scores were 31-29, 30-16, 30-24 in favor of the Bruins.
The Sun Devils had their season-high losing streak extended to four matches, with all four losses coming against teams ranked in the top 10. ASU (6-10, 1-6 Pac-10) returns home next weekend to host Oregon (Oct. 17) and Oregon State (Oct. 18). The Bruins salvaged a weekend split after losing to Arizona on Friday, to improve to 13-3 overall and 5-1 in Pac-10 play.
Junior outside hitter Natalie Harris (Tempe, Ariz.) led all players with 17 kills on a .244 hitting percentage (17-7-41). Senior Kim Mehlhorn (Tempe, Ariz.) added nine kills and a team-high 10 digs for the Sun Devils.
Brynn Murphy led UCLA with 11 kills on a .476 (11-1-21) hitting percentage and added five blocks. Cira Wright led all players with six total blocks and added seven kills. The Bruins out-hit ASU .300-.159 for the match and out-blocked the Devils 11.0-5.0. ASU also committed 14 service aces in the loss.
