LOS ANGELES, Calif. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- The No. 1 and defending national champion USC Women of Troy defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils in a three-game sweep Friday night in Pac-10 Volleyball action. Game scores were 30-12, 30-20, 30-22 in favor of USC.
The Women of Troy remained undefeated at 15-0 overall and 6-0 in Pac-10 play. USC has also won 27 consecutive matches dating back to the 2002 season and has lost only one game all year. The Sun Devils extended their losing streak to a season-high three matches and are 6-9 overall and 1-5 in league action.
Senior outside hitter Juliana Escobar (Brasilia, Brazil) led the Devils with 10 kills on a .250 (10-3-28) hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter Natalie Harris added seven kills and a team-high eight digs.
The Women of Troy scorched the Devils out-hitting ASU .371-.102 for the match. All-American April Ross led all players with 15 kills on a .500 (15-3-24) hitting percentage and middle blocker Bibiana Candelas added eight kills and one block.
The Sun Devils return to action Saturday with a 7 p.m. match at No. 8 UCLA.
