Box Score

EUGENE, Ore. - The 20th-ranked Oregon Ducks (28-15; 6-9 Pac-10) shutout No. 12 Arizona State (28-19; 5-10 Pac-10), 3-0, Sunday to end the series at Howe Field in Eugene. Oregon scored an unearned run in the second and two more in the sixth to take the series, 2-1

Oregon posted the first run on a hit and an error. Jenn Poore singled to center to open the second inning, while Janell Bergstrom was then hit by a pitch by ASU starter Desiree Serrano (17-12). Erin Goodell followed with a sacrifice bunt, but Serrano's throw to third to cut down the runner was high as it ticked off Kara Brun's glove into right field, allowing Poore to score. Serrano then got out of a bases loaded jam to end the inning.

ASU had a chance to get on the board in the sixth off two hits. Valerie Sevilla opened the inning with a single to center. After one out, Wright singled to right off Oregon reliever Andrea Vidlund, who came in for starter Amy Harris (14-11), to put two runners on, but Adriana Garcia hit into a 1-6-3 double play to end the threat.

In the bottom of the inning, Vidlund led off with a home run to right field. They added another run off of a double and a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 3-0.

ASU had one more chance to score a run in the seventh, but stranded the runner at third.

Up next, the Sun Devils continue their Pac-10 road swing in the Bay Area when they take on Stanford on Friday, May 2 at 7:00 p.m.
