TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 20 Arizona State water polo team won again on the road, this time with a 7-1 defeat of Santa Clara at the Claremont Colleges Tournament Saturday in Claremont, Calif. The victory over the Broncos lifted the Sun Devils to 14-9 on the year.

For only the second time this year, the Sun Devils won a game in which they allowed their opponent to net the first goal of the contest. After the Broncos scored on a man advantage situation in the first period, ASU answered back with seven goals in a row including three in the second to command of the game. Leading at halftime, 4-1, the Sun Devils scored once in the third before tallying twice more in the fourth for the 7-1 final.

The offense was led by a three-goal showing from Katie Davis (Jr., Riverside, Calif.). Davis extended her scoring streak to seven games and had tallied 18 points during that span. Also scoring goals for the Sun Devils were Ashley Orzalli (Jr., Acampo, Calif.), Daya Mau (Fr., Honolulu, Hawai'i), Adriane Mota (Fr., Long Beach, Calif.) and Holly Newman (Fr., San Diego, Calif.), each with a solo score.

Assisting on the scores were Gili Kollan (So., Kiriat Bialik, Israel), Mau, Kim Stevens (Fr., Lodi, Calif.), Tessa Wyborny (Fr., Walnut Creek, Calif.), Robin Kimbrell (Jr., Huntington Beach, Calif.) and goalie Lizzie Houck (Fr., San Diego, Calif.). Houck also recorded eight saves in goal while Kristie Meyer (Fr., Reno, Nev.) made one save while allowing no goals.

Kollan saw her nine-game goal scoring streak snapped, but the transfer from St. Francis College of New York did keep her points streak in tact. She has now assisted or scored a goal in 10 games in a row while totaling 25 points.

Action continues for the Sun Devils Sunday in Claremont, Calif., with their final two games in the tournament as they battle Harvard and host Claremont-Mudd Scripps Colleges.
