TEMPE, Ariz. - In the No. 19 Arizona State water polo team's 12-5 victory over Wagner Friday in the opening contest of the Cal Baptist Lancer Invitational in Riverside, Calif., the Sun Devils tied several team records, extended another and earned a milestone in the process. Gili Kollan (So., Kiriat Bialik, Israel) scored five goals to tie a school record at the Sun Devils moved to 10-7 on the year, equalling the win total of year ago and scoring the 50th win in the coaching career of Vicki Gorman, ASU's head coach.

Kollan tied two Sun Devils, Bryn Kuech (So., Bonsall, Calif.) and Kim Yost, for the most goals in a single game that each set last year. Kuech was the first to accomplish the feat with five on the road against Sonoma State in a Feb. 17 contest. Yost followed less than a month later with five scores on Villanova. Joining in on the point fest was Daya Mau (Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii). Mau, who scored a goal in the game, added four assists to tie four other Sun Devils from the 2002 team for the second-most assists in a game.

The Sun Devils got off to a hot start with four goals in the first period while the Seahawks kept it close with a pair of their own. ASU opened the flood gates in the second quarter, though, and pumped in another four scores compared to one for Wagner to take an 8-3 halftime lead. The Sun Devils added three goals in the third and one in the fourth as the Seahawks were limited to a single tally in each of the final two stanzas, bringing the final to 12-5 for ASU and sending the team to its record fourth win in a row.

Joining Kollan on the score sheet was Kuech and Mau with two goals each and single tallies from Katie Davis (Jr., Riverside, Calif.), Catharine Taber (Jr., Clayton, Calif.) and Tessa Wyborny (Fr., Walnut Creek, Calif.). In the assist department, Mau was joined by two from Kollan, Wyborny and Ashley Orzalli (Jr., Acampo, Calif.). Davis and Lauren Jacobson (So., League City, Texas) each added one.

Defensively, Lizzie Houck (Fr., San Diego, Calif.) stopped four shots and Kristie Meyer (Fr., Reno, Nev.) came in to the game to record a pair of saves. The Sun Devils, who scored five goals on six man-up situations in the game, allowed just one score by Wagner on six advantages.

The Lancer Invitational concludes Saturday with the Sun Devils playing another pair. ASU will face Cal State Bakersfield at 11:45 a.m. and host Cal Baptist at 3:30 p.m. to wrap up its current five-weekend road swing.
