EUGENE, Ore. - Sophomore Kylan Loney scored 16 points as the Sun Devil women's basketball team fell to Oregon 68-52 Thursday night at Oregon's McArthur Court. With the loss, the Sun Devils fell to 12-7 overall and 4-6 in the Pac-10, while the Ducks improved to 8-11 and 4-6.

Arizona State trailed the whole game, falling behind 23-9 with 6:05 to play in the first half. The Sun Devils scored the next seven points to cut the Duck lead to seven, 23-16 with 4:29 to play, but Oregon closed out the half on a 12-5 run to take a 35-21 halftime lead. ASU knocked down just seven field goals and shot 33.3 percent in the first half.

In the second half, the Sun Devils scored the first five points of the half to cut the lead to nine, but the Ducks tallied the next seven points to maintain a 42-26 lead with 17:14 to play. ASU got within nine points, 52-43 with 7:50 remaining, but would not get any closer. Oregon scored their final 12 points of the game at the free throw line, knocking down 12-of-14 attempts over the final five minutes and 81.5 percent (22-27) in the game.

Loney led all scorers with 16 points, knocking down 4-of-6 three-pointers. She also added four assists. Freshman Kristen Kovesdy had 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, and freshman Amy Denson, a native of Central Point, Ore., had 10 points. Sophomore Carrie Buckner, a native of Corvallis, Ore., led the team with seven rebounds, while Kovesdy and Denson each pulled down five boards.

For Oregon, freshman Carolyn Ganes led three Ducks in double figures with 13 points. Sophomore Andrea Bills led the team with nine rebounds.

Arizona State next travels to Corvallis to take on Oregon State (11-8, 5-5 Pac-10) Saturday night at 7 p.m. PST/8 p.m. MST at Gill Coliseum. ASU's game at OSU can be heard locally on NBC 1190 AM or via the internet at www.thesundevils.com.
