OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Arizona State's (46-20) record-setting season came to end today with a 3-0 loss to California (55-19) in a semifinal game at the Women's College World Series. Arizona State ends its most successful season with a third place finish and a record high 46 wins.

Arizona State was unable to produce any offense of Cal starter Jocelyn Forest (28-12), as Phelan Wright was the only Sun Devil with a hit to lead off the second inning.

Cal scored all three runs in the first inning, all unearned off a throwing error. Kaleo Eldredge began with a single to left field, followed an infield hit by Kristen Morley. After ASU pitcher Erica Beach (33-15) got Candace Harper to line out to Missy Hixon, Veronica Nelson was intentionally walked to load the bases. Beach then got Courtney Scott to fly out to center field for the second out. Jessica Pamanian then hit a dribbler down the third base line, but Wright's throw to first went wide and into right filed, scoring all three runners.

The Sun Devils never got another base runner on, as they were one hit for the second time in the past three games. Beach took another tough loss as she limited Cal to only three hits, two in the three-run first inning.
