PULLMAN, Wash.--- Melody Johnson posted her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds as the visiting Arizona State Sun Devils defeated the Washington State Cougars 75-56 in Pacific-10 Conference women's basketball action Thursday night at Friel Court.
With the win the Sun Devils improved to 19-6 overall and 10-4 in the Pac-10. The Cougars fell to 2-21 overall and 0-13 in conference play.
Three Arizona State players joined Johnson in double figures: Betsy Boardman (14 points), Amanda Levens (13 points) and Kylan Loney (career-high 10 points).
"I thought we adapted well and made good adjustments," said ASU coach Charli Turner Thorne. "I liked Loney's play tonight. She played very well for us."
The Cougars' Whitney Martindale led all scorers with 16 points, all coming in second-half. Martindale's effort marked the eighth time this season she has reached double-digits in points.
"Whitney had a terrific second-half," said WSU Head Coach Jenny Przekwas. "She was very aggressive tonight."
Brittney Hawks just missed her 11th double-double of the season with 11 points and nine rebounds in 32 minutes of action for the Cougars.
For the game, Arizona State shot 26-of-59 (44.1 percent) from the floor while the Cougars were 18-of-48 (37.5 percent) from the field. In addition, Arizona State out-rebounded the Cougars 42-27.
