TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- The Washington State Volleyball team recorded nine service aces and had three players in double-digits with kills as the 17th-ranked Cougars swept the host No. 19 Arizona State Sun Devils 3-0 Friday night in Pac-10 Volleyball action at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Cougars notched their first Pac-10 road win of the year with the 30-20, 30-24, 30-28 defeat of the Sun Devils. WSU improved to 16-6 overall and evened its Pac-10 record at 6-6. Arizona State dropped its second straight match and are now 10-6 overall and 6-5 in conference action. Washington State has now swept the Sun Devils in consecutive years.

The Cougars were led by 14 kills from outside hitter Chelsie Schafer, 12 from Adrian Hankoff and 11 from all-Pac-10 performer LaToya Harris. Freshman setter Brenn Larson paced the WSU offense with a match-high 38 assists and senior libero Kortney Jamtaas anchored the Cougar defense with 15 digs. Hankoff had three service aces in the win, all coming in consecutive swings during the second game.

The Sun Devils were out-hit in the match .142 to .248, out-blocked 11.0-9.0 and had only one service ace to WSU's nine. Junior outside hitter Juliana Escobar (Brasilia, Brazil) recorded her 11th double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs in the match. Senior middle blocker Julia Leddy (Mesa) continued her solid play with a .571 hitting percentage on 10 kills. In her first start of the year, senior libero Brittany Arnett (Mesa) tallied an ASU best 14 digs.

The Sun Devils return to action tomorrow night (Nov. 2) with a 7 p.m. match against the Washington Huskies at Wells Fargo Arena. The game will be televised locally on AZ-TV (Cox cable 13) with George Allen and Doug Gerlach handling all the play-by-play duties from courtside at WFA. --Sun Devil Volleyball--
