The All-Time Series: With the win tonight the Cal Bears improved to
6-4 overall in 2002 and evened their Pac-10 record at 3-3. ASU had won five
of the last six in the series and had a five-game home winning streak
snapped against Cal. The last time Cal won at Sun Devil Stadium before
tonight was a 31-24 victory in 1990. ASU still holds a 13-10 advantage in
the all-time series.
Suggs Breaks Pac-10 and ASU Single-Season Sack Record: With his
sack of Cal quarterback Kyle Boller late in the second quarter, ASU junior
defensive end Terrell Suggs broke the Pac-10 and ASU single-season record
(19) with his 19.5 sack of 2002. The former school record of 19 sacks were
set by Al Harris in 1979 and the Pac-10 mark was shared by Arizona's Tedy
Bruschi (1993) and USC's Tim Ryan (1989). Suggs, who already broke the NCAA
mark (an official statistic since 2001) of 17.5, is now eying the ASU
career sack record of 41 set by Shante Carver (1990-93). Suggs has 39.5
sacks in his career with two remaining regular-season games in 2002.

year (and career). Walter has three of the top six single-game passing
performances in school history this year. With his performance tonight,
Walter broke the ASU single-season record with 2,992 yards. He entered the
game at fourth, but passed the single-season school record of 2,878 set by
former Sun Devil and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Danny White in 1973.

more TD's and now has 25 in 2002 to rank second in ASU's single-season
history. The school record is 29 set by Mike Pagel in 1981.

football history and is the second longest this year... linebacker Matt Nixon

kicker Mark Jensen moved into sixth place for career scoring with 226
points scored... Jensen surpassed Chuck Muncie (1973-75)... Cal has now scored
