Arizona State finished fourth at the 2002 Duke Golf Classic held at the par 72, 7,045-yard Duke Golf Club in Durham, N.C., which finished Tuesday afternoon. Augusta State fired a final round score of 6-under-par 282 to claim the team championship.
Augusta State's three-round total of 866 was eight shots better than Duke (874). Illinois (882) finished third followed by Arizona State (883), Virginia Tech (885), Michigan State (890), Virginia (898), Georgia Southern (903), Coastal Carolina (915), UAB (921), Florida Southern (926), Houston (927), Furman (931) and Marshall (943).
The Sun Devils shot rounds of 299-289-295.
Oliver Wilson of Augusta State captured individual honors at 72-69-68=209. Arizona State's Jesse Mueller was the top Sun Devil with a 1-over 217 (77-69-71), which was good enough for seventh.
Opened on September 26, 1957, the Duke Golf Club's original layout was designed by Robert Trent Jones and then re-designed by Rees Jones in 1993. The course has played host to a pair of NCAA Men's Golf Championships in 1962 and 2001.
