STANFORD, Calif. - The sixth-ranked Arizona State softball team (37-11, 7-4 Pac-10) edged third-ranked Stanford, 1-0, this afternoon in Stanford. The win marks the third straight Pac-10 series the Sun Devils have won and also tops last year's overall record of 36 wins.

In another classic Pac-10 pitcher's dual between ASU's Erica Beach (24-8) and Stanford's Tori Nyberg (20-6), ASU came up with the winning run in the top of the sixth inning. With one out, Missy Hixon walked on four straight pitches and was then moved to second on an infield hit by Kristin Farber. Kara Brun followed with a shot down the third base line to score Hixon for the eventual winning run.

The RBI was Brun's team-leading 46th, second all-time in a single season and just three shy of the all-time record.

Beach pitched another gem as she limited the Cardinal to two hits. She pitched five full, while Kirsten Voak came in for the sixth inning. Beach returned to finish the game as she closed out the seventh.

Up next, Arizona State returns home to host Oregon State for single game on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
