Final Stats

TUCSON, Ariz. - Three unanswered goals, including the game-winner in the 95th minute of overtime by sophomore Patrice Feulner lifted the Arizona State soccer team (10-8-1, 4-4-1 Pac-10) to a 3-2 come from behind win over the University of Arizona (5-12-1, 2-7-0 Pac-10) tonight in Tucson. This was incredibly ASU's fourth consecutive overtime game and its fifth in the past six matches, recording a 2-2-1 mark. The Wildcats have never defeated the Sun Devils in the program's history as the streak runs to seven matches.

The two teams spent much of the game's first 20 minutes in the midfield, then Wildcat freshman Vanesha Bailey broke loose on the right side and sent a hard shot at ASU goalkeeper Kristin Slater. Slater deflected the shot, but Arizona freshman Candice Wilks was there to collect the rebound and score the first goal of the match at 20:28. The Cats carried that 1-0 edge into halftime.

It didn't take Arizona long in the second half to make the game 2-0. Bailey took yet another hard shot from about 20 yards on the right side. A Sun Devil defender tried to deflect the ball with a header, but it skipped off the side of the player's head and into the goal.

Arizona State stepped up the pressure after that. The Sun Devils sent up a flurry of shots during the 53rd minute when, ASU's Wendy Ragitsch made a run up the right side and sent the ball to Stephanie Peel, who broke the shutout with a shot that came off Monti's hand. Antoinette Marjanovic then knotted the game at 2-all in the 63rd minute with her bullet from the right side. The teams then took their 2-2 tie into overtime.

Both squads had shots on-goal within the first minute of the overtime period. Arizona State used its second shot of the extra time to score the game-winner, as Marjanovic sent a corner kick into the box for Patrice Feulner's header at 94:58.

Up next, The Sun Devils will wait and see about getting an at-large selection into the NCAA Tournament on Monday, November 12.
