POSTGAME QUOTES - Arizona State vs. Texas Tech

Texas Tech Head Coach Larry Hays: (On the game) "This was rough on us for obvious reasons. Our defense on the corners gave them runs and I was disappointed with that."

(On pitching) "We never got an edge in pitching. They pitched better than us the entire game. The bottom line is we pitched terrible. We didn't pitch good enough to win the game."

Texas Tech third baseman Nick Blankenship: "We hung our heads after the fifth inning. It was hard to get back up once our heads were down."

(About the rest of the tournament) "We have a long road ahead and we have to keep looking forward."

Arizona State head coach Pat Murphy: "We have great respect for Texas Tech. They have a great club and the score doesn't indicate how close the game really was. We happened to have a good game and hit some balls where they weren't. The big thing was that we stayed in the game all night."

(About the 7th inning) "It's not normal for us [to score nine runs in one inning] but we battle and that's been the ammunition of the team."

Arizona State catcher Casey Myers: (About his 3 run homerun) "(Texas Tech pitcher Mike) Larsen left a fast ball over the plate, I got under it and it just got into the wind. The ball was carrying well today."

(About the game) "We knew it was going to be a tough one. They played great, but our offense finally came through. The win is very big for us."
