PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. - The Arizona State women's golf team finished in a tie for 11th with Purdue Wednesday at the TRW Regional Challenge, hosted by Ohio State Feb. 12-14 at the par-71 Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
The Sun Devils turned in a three-day total of 928 (304-312-312, 34 strokes off the lead of defending national champion Arizona which won the Regional Challenge with a total of 884. New Mexico State (895), Stanford (900), Texas (902) and Tulsa (904) round out the top five teams.
Individually, Arizona's Natalie Gulbis took home medalist honors, finishing at one-over 214 after three days. For the Sun Devils, junior Lisa Meredith and freshman Jimin Kang each finished in a tie for 34th with 18-over 231s. Senior Molly Cooper (78-76=154) tied for 43rd (232), while sophomore Melanie Hunt, who transferred to ASU from Texas Tech this winter, finished 68th (240). Sophomore Blair O'Neal had her best round of the tournament with a 78 on Wednesday to finish at 244 and tie for 75th.
The Sun Devils return to action next week at the Arizona Invitational at Tucson's Randolph Golf Course Feb. 19-21.
