Box Score

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Senior outside hitter Amanda Burbridge had 20 kills in three games to lead the Arizona State Sun Devil volleyball team to a 15-1, 15-10, 15-6 win over the University of Washington Huskies in front of 548 fans at the Pavilion Addition.

ASU handled the Huskies easily in three games to improve their overall season record to 9-3 and 1-1 in Pac-10 play. ASU has now won eight of their last nine matches and are off to their best start since also going 9-3 in 1997 and 1995. With the victory, ASU has a four-match winning streak, all of which have gone only three games. For the year, the Sun Devils have handed their opponent three-game loses in six matches this year.

"We controlled the game from the start and never let Washington get into the match," head coach Patti Snyder-Park said. "We played great defense, had a good transition game and really set the tempo."

Burbridge (Scottsdale, Ariz.) paced the ASU offensive attack to lead the Sun Devils in kills (20), digs (17) and total blocks (4). With her 20-kill match, Burbridge moved ahead of Terri Cox (1994-97) into seventh place in the ASU career record books with 1,195 for her career. Burbridge, who is a Washington native being born in Olympia, and whose parents both graduated from the University of Washington, finished her career 3-1 in Seattle against the Huskies.

Sophomore middle blocker Julia Leddy (Mesa, Ariz.) finished with 11 kills and hit .700 for the match (11-1-14). Freshman setter Cheryl Anglin (Queen Creek, Ariz.) led the ASU offense with 48 assists. Junior outside hitter Jami Coughlin (Glendale, Ariz.) also had a good match with eight kills and 16 digs.

The Sun Devils jumped out to a torrid start with a 15-1 pounding of the Dawgs in game one. Burbridge led the way with six kills in the first frame, while Leddy added five.

With six more kills in the second game, Burbridge officially moved into seventh place in the record books in career kills. ASU forged to the early 2-0 lead in the match with a 15-10 win in game two, and then ran their winning streak to four matches with a 15-6 win in game three.

ASU will travel to Pullman, Wash., Saturday morning and then take on the Cougars in a 7 p.m. match in Bohler Gym on the Washington State University campus.
