TEMPE, Ariz. -- Senior outside hitter Amanda Burbridge recorded a team-high 18 kills to lead the Arizona State University volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Saint Louis on Friday in the first game of the B&G Properties Invitational hosted by Southwest Texas in San Marcos, Texas.
The win evened the Sun Devils record at 2-2 for the year after starting 2000 with a 1-2 record at the annual Phoenix Airport Hilton/Sun Devil Challenge. The SLU Billikins are also 2-2 in 2000.
Burbridge (Scottsdale) added to her team-leading total of kills for the season and now has 87 for the year and 1,086 in her career to move into eighth place in the ASU record books. Burbridge also added 16 digs and three service aces in the win.
Senior middle blocker Michelle Mortensen (Chandler) contributed 13 kills in the ASU victory. Junior Jami Coughlin (Glendale) led the team with 17 digs and tallied 14 kills.
The Sun Devils will continue tournament play with an afternoon game against Sacramento State to conclude the first day of the tournament. ASU will take on IUPUI and host Southwest Texas to conclude the tournament Saturday.
