EUGENE, Ore. - Led by freshman Miriam Nagl's sixth-place showing, the Arizona State women's golf team finished in sixth place at the Pac-10 Championships held April 24-26 at the par 72, 6,000-yard Eugene Country Club.
As a team, the fourth-ranked Sun Devils shot a 299 in the final round, their best round of the tournament, to take sixth with a three-day total of 911. No. 2 Arizona won the tournament with a three-day total of 883, while Stanford (901), UCLA (903), California (904) and USC (906) round out the top five.
Individually, Nagl turned in her ninth top-10 finish of the season by tying for sixth place. The second-ranked Nagl carded her best round of the tournament with an even 72 Wednesday to finish with a three-day total of 222. Sophomore Lisa Meredith finished in a tie for 17th with a three-day total of 227.
USC's Candi Kung won individual medalist honors after teammate Mikaela Parmlid was disqualified. Initially, the Trojan pair was tied at the end of the tournament and took part in a sudden-death playoff which Parmlid won after the first hole. It was then discovered that Parmlid had signed an incorrect scoredcard which led to her disqualification. Kung finished with a 218 after shooting a two-under 70 in the final round, while top-ranked Jenna Daniels of Arizona took second at 219.
The Sun Devils return to action May 11-13 when the team plays host to the NCAA West Regional at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe.
