TEMPE, Ariz. - The fifth-ranked Arizona State softball team (31-5), who received eight hits by eight different players, defeated the University of Nevada Las Vegas Rebels (13-16), 4-2, this evening to tally the second win of the three-game series played this weekend at Farrington Stadium.

The Sun Devils posted two runs in the first inning and two more in the third, while UNLV tallied both of its runs in the fifth inning.

Arizona State pitcher Erica Beach (11-3) went the distance in the circle, allowing eight hits and striking out four batters. Additionally, Beach also went 1-for-3 at the plate scoring once.

In her second start of the season Arizona State catcher Andrea Rodgers went 1-for-2 on the night, knocking in two of Arizona State's four runs with her first double in the first inning.

Also hitting well for Arizona State was pinch hitter Sara Kahler, designated hitter Kirsten Voak and third baseman Devyn Braga all going 1-for-1, with Kahler tallying one RBI.

UNLV's pitcher Nicole Truax (7-8), who pitched her second game of the weekend, gave up eight hits and three walks. Second baseman Linda Garza led the Rebels going 2-for-4 on the night along. Also Nicole Miller went 1-for-4, knocking in the two UNLV runs with a base hit to left field.

Arizona State will close out its non-conference slate with the final game tomorrow afternoon at Farrington Stadium against UNLV at 1 pm.
