Catcher Casey Myers hit a solo homerun to leftfield in the bottom of the ninth with one out to lift the Arizona State baseball team to a 6-5 win over Oklahoma this evening at Packard Stadium. ASU improves to 20-4 while the Sooners fall to 11-7.

Oklahoma tied the game at five-all in the top of the ninth when Sean Murphy scored on a passed ball. With one out in the bottom of the ninth, junior Casey Myers hit a solo homerun to leftfield to give the Sun Devils the win.

Reliever Eric Doble (1-1) picked up his first win of the season going 1.2 innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit with two strikeouts. Starter Chad Pennington pitched 5.0 innings, allowing four runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in a no-decision.

Taking the loss for the Sooners was reliever Clint Dunbar (0-1) who went 0.1 innings allowing one run on one hit with a strikeout. Starter Austin Coose pitched 8.0 innings in the no-decision with four earned runs on nine hits.

Myers had a 3-for-4 day at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored. Mitch Jones also had two runs scored on the night.

For the Sooners, Sean Murphy and Jerome Godsey both collected two hits.

The two teams close out the three-game series tomorrow at Packard Stadium at 7 p.m. Lefthanded pitcher Will Waldrip (5-0) is slated to start for the Sun Devils while Austin Mix (3-1) will take the mound for Oklahoma. For ticket information, please contact the ASU ticket office at 480-965-2381.
