Junior catcher Casey Myers hit two homers and collected five RBI as the 13th-ranked ASU Sun Devils defeated Oklahoma 11-5 tonight at Packard Stadium. Arizona State improves to 19-4 on the year, while the Sooners fall to 11-6.

The Sun Devils are now on an eight-game winning streak - their longest of the season. They have also tallied an extra base hit in all 23 games this year.

Oklahoma got on the board first scoring a run in the top of the first on a Rick Park single to right centerfield.

But ASU came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a lead they would never relinquish. Leadoff hitter Jonah Martin led off the inning with a single to rightfield. Brooks Conrad walked to put runners on first and second. After Mitch Jones, struck out swinging, Casey Myers hit a three-run blast to centerfield.

Myers ended the day going 3-for-3 with three runs scored, five RBI and a walk. Third baseman Mike Lopez had a 2-for-4 effort at the plate with a run scored and four RBI.

Picking up his fifth win of the season was starting pitcher Jon Switzer (5-0) who went 5.2 innings, allowing one earned run on three hits with six strikeouts. Reliever Eric Doble pitched 2.2 shutout innings to earn his second save of the year.

Taking the loss for the Sooners was starter Rocky Cherry who went 5.0 innings allowing five runs on six hit with four walks and eight strikeouts.

Sooner Rick Park went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored.

The Sun Devils and Sooners meet for game two of the three-game series tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Packard Stadium. Slated to start for ASU is junior RHP Chad Pennington (4-0, 5.91 ERA) and for Oklahoma, RHP Austin Coose (3-2, 1.65 ERA) is expected to take the mound.
