ASU Women's Tennis Trounces Tribe

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State, ranked 10th by the ITA, topped 13th-ranked William & Mary in women's tennis non-conference action this afternoon at the Robson Player Facility.

The Sun Devils improved their overall record to 9-2, while the Tribe dropped to a 9-3 season mark.

ASU won the match in singles competition, taking five of six contests. Karin Palme defeated William & Mary's Delphine Troch 6-2, 6-2, but the other four victories were taking into extra games. On court three, Faye DeVera won a first set tiebreaker 7-1 before dropping the set 4-6. A long shot by the Tribe's Carlijn Buis gave DeVera the match with a 6-4 third set. Mhairi Brown, Megan Yeats and Celena McCoury also notched Sun Devil wins.

Arizona State returns to Pac-10 action this weekend in Los Angeles, Calif., taking on No. 14 UCLA on Fri., March 10 and seventh-ranked USC on Sat., March 11.
