The Anaheim Angels defeated the Arizona State Sun Devil baseball team 7-3 this evening in an exhibition game at Tempe Diablo Stadium. The charity game between the two squads benefited the East Valley Boys and Girls Club.
Sophomore second baseman Brooks Conrad and junior first baseman Casey Myers both went 1-for-4 on the night with a double and a RBI. Brendan Hines and John Gusich each recorded a hit as well for the Devils.
Taking the loss for the Devils, was lefty Drew Friedberg who pitched 2.0 innings allowing one earned run on three hits. Anaheim's Scott Schoeneweis picked up the win, pitching two shutout innings for the Angels.
The Devils left six runners on base while the Angels stranded nine on the night.
Designated hitter Darin Erstad went 1-for-2 with an RBI for Anaheim while catcher Bengie Molina went 1-for-1 with a run scored and two RBI.
ASU pitchers Robby Milner, Jason Fingers, Eric Doble and Luke Field each pitched a shutout inning for the Devils in relief.
Arizona State scored a single run in the fourth and two in the eighth while Anaheim picked up three runs in the second, one in the third and three in the fourth.
