PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. - The No. 4 Arizona State women's golf team moved into fifth place from ninth after the second day of play at the SMU/OSU Regional Challenge being held at the Palos Verdes Golf Course Feb. 7-9. The Sun Devils shot a 12-over par 296 Tuesday for a two-day total of 600 on the par 71, 5,912-yard course, trailing No. 3 Arizona by 21 strokes (288-291=579) to lead the tournament after two days.
Individually, freshman Miriam Nagl (Berlin, Germany) , who is currently ranked fourth in the nation, climbed into a tie for second place with USC's Nicole Dalkas after shooting a two-under 69 on Tuesday for a total of 141 (72-69=141). Nagl is just three strokes behind Georgia's Shauna Estes who leads the tournament at 138 (70-68).
Play at the SMU/OSU Regional Challenge, which features 12 of the nation's top 15 teams, concludes on Wednesday with the final round teeing off at 8:30 a.m. Pacific.
