WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - The Arizona State men's golf team fired a 5-under-par 279 in the final round to overtake BYU and capture the team title at the 23rd annual Cleveland Southwestern Intercollegiate Golf Classic hosted by USC at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif.
ASU came back from a six-stroke deficit after two rounds and shot 856 overall (288-289-279) and had three golfers in the top eight. BYU shot an 862 (288-283-291) to finish second.
Individually, junior All-Americans Paul Casey (70-74-69) and Jeff Quinney (73-71-69) each tied for third with an even 213, while sophomore Matt Jones (74-71-70) tied for eighth.
Senior Jonas Runnquist (71-73-75) and junior Jin Park (74-74-71) came in at tie for 21st with 6-over-par 219. Individuals also competing were Shane McMenamy (75-72-75=222) who tied for 31st, Brady Stockton (70-79-74=223) who tied for 35th and Ryan Whitaker (75-73-77=225).
