LOS ANGELES (AP) - Brian Scalabrine scored seven of his 26 points in overtime as Southern California held on Thursday to beat Arizona State 95-92. Jeff Trepagnier and Brandon Granville each had three points in the extra period.
Trepagnier, who finished the game with 16 points, tipped in a basket with 9.2 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the score at 82.
The Trojans (11-5, 4-0 Pacific 10) took the lead for good after Scalabrine scored on a short jumpshot with 57 seconds remaining to make the score 91-89. Granville, who finished with 22, hit a pair of free throws with 38.2 seconds to play. On the next possession, Tanner Shell missed a 3-point attempt for ASU. Granville finished the scoring by converting a foul shot with 9.7 seconds to play Scalabrine's 26 points tied a career high.
David Bluthenthal tied a Trojan record in rebounds, pulling down 28 on the night. He finished with 18 points.
Shell, who came off the bench to score a career-high 26 points, led Arizona State (11-5, 3-1).
USC, which used an 11-0 run to lead 35-26 midway through the first half, was up 50-43 at the intermission.
Arizona State was without their leading scorer Eddie House for the first three minutes of play. House was benched after missing a team flight yesterday. He finished the night with 13 points and six assists.
