The ASU women's volleyball team took its match against California to five games before coming up with a 3-2 win against the Golden Bears. Game scores were 17-15, 15-5, 14-16, 10-15, 20-18.
ASU stalled at game point six times before winning the first game 17-15. However, the Sun Devils came back strong to take the second game 15-5. In the third game ASU came from behind to tie it at 14 points, but fell short losing 16-14. The Sun Devils dropped the fourth game as well 15-10, before winning a fifth rally game 20-18.
ASU was led by Amanda Burbridge in kills with 25. Jamie Peck and Jami Coughlin also had double-digit games in kills as Peck put down a career-high 22 for the Devils, while Coughlin added 10.
The Sun Devils had four players in double-digits for digs as Burbridge led the team with 20. Coughlin had 18, while Ashley Hubbard and Darice Smith had 14 and 13 respectively.
The Bears were paced by Brook Coulter who had a match-high 26 kills while adding 10 digs. Alicia Perry had 21 kills and 16 digs. Laurel Kokaska led the team in digs with 18, and Candace McNamee also contributed 16 digs.
