BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The top ranked Stanford women's team and the second ranked Stanford men's team both captured team titles in the 1999 Pre-NCAA meet at Indiana University, site of this year's NCAA Championships. Fourteen of the nation's top 20 men's and women's teams competed while Arizona State's men (ranked 19th) finished fifth and the women (ranked 4th) finished seventh.
Individually, Oregon's Steve Fein took first place in 24:06 on the men's side and Colorado University's Kara Wheeler took top honors for the women in 17:07. ASU was lead by Fasil Bizuneh's tenth place finish in 24:26 and Kelly MacDonald's 12th place finish.
