TEMPE, Ariz. - Junior outside hitter Amanda Burbridge tallied 13 kills, 10 digs and five blocks as Arizona State (8-4, 4-2) defeated Washington (6-10, 2-6), 3-0, tonight in Wells Fargo Arena. Game scores were 15-12, 16-14, 15-4.
The Sun Devils came back from a 7-14 deficit to win game two, 16-14. ASU held off the Huskies five game points to rally for the win on a Washington hitting error.
Sophomore opposite hitter Jami Coughlin added 18 digs and a match-high four service aces for the Devils. Robyn Mattingly and Jamie Peck recorded nine kills each for the night. Middle blocker Laura Hibsman notched seven blocks as well.
For the Huskies, outside hitter Kristina Laffling tallied a team-high 12 kills while outside hitter Allison Richardson added 10 kills as well as 14 digs on the evening. Middle blocker Lisa Underhill led the team with five blocks and added nine kills.
ASU had 65 digs for the match while the Huskies tallied only 53. The Sun Devils notched eight service aces as well.
