TUCSON, Ariz. - Outside hitters Amanda Burbridge and Robyn Mattingly each tallied 16 kills as Arizona State defeated 14th-ranked Arizona, 3-1, in Tucson this evening. Game scores were 15-12, 15-13, 7-15, 15-11.
ASU came back from a 3-9 deficit to win game two, 15-13 and came back from a 0-6 deficit in game four to win 15-11. The Sun Devils recorded 11 service aces for the match while the Wildcats commited 14 unforced service errors.
Sophomore Jami Coughlin added 12 kills for the Devils while defensive specialist Darice Smith tallied a match-high four service aces. Freshman middle blocker Julia Leddy notched one block solo and four block assists on the night.
Arizona's Allison Napier and Marissa DaLee each had 17 kills for the Wildcats while Lisa Rutledge added 15 on the evening. DaLee also notched three block solos and three block assists.
