May 19, 2000

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State freshman Miriam Nagl has been named Golf World Collegiate Golfer of the Week after winning the NCAA West Regional last week.

With the victory, the freshman phenom also returned to No. 1 in the MasterCard Collegiate Golf rankings, the seventh time this season that she has held that spot.

Nagl's victory in the West Regional marks her second win of the year and her 10th top 10 finish in as many tournaments. Her first tournament win came at Crosswater Golf Course in Sunriver, Ore., at the NCAA Fall Preview, the first college action of her career.

Nagl and the Sun Devils return to Sunriver and the Crosswater Golf Course May 24-27 for the NCAA Women's Golf Championships. Arizona State will be looking to win its first national title of the new millennium after capturing six NCAA crowns in the 1990s.
