Walnut Creek, Calif. - Arizona State freshman Miriam Nagl was named the 2000 Pac-10 Conference Freshman of the Year and earned first-team Pac-10 honors in a vote of conference coaches release Thursday.

The Sun Devil freshman tied for sixth place earlier this week at the Pac-10 Championships, her ninth top-10 performance in nine appearances this season. She is also the second-ranked player in the country.

Three other Sun Devils also earned all-conference accolades including sophomore Caroline Laurens, who was named to the second team after earning honorable-mention honors last year, and honorable-mention picks sophomore Lisa Meredith and freshman Blair O'Neal, who are both first-time honorees.

Arizona head coach Todd McCorkle was also named Pac-10 Coach of the Year after leading his Wildcats to a No. 1 national ranking and their third conference title in four years.
