STANFORD, Calif.-- The No. 1 ranked Stanford men's tennis team shutout Arizona State, 7-0 on Friday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium on the campus of Stanford University. The Cardinal improves to 19-0 overall including an 8-0 mark in the Pac-10. The Sun Devils fall to 8-9 and 3-7 in conference play.
Stanford sohpomore Bob Bryan led the Cardinal at the number one singles position, defeating Gustavo Marcaccio, 6-3, 6-0. Bryan, No. 9 player in the nation, improves to 15-1 in dual match play. He is 5-0 when playing the number one position.
Senior Paul Goldstein and junior Ryan Wolters defeated Arizona State's number one doubles team of Tim Hammond and Ed Carter, 8-6. Goldstein and Wolters improve to 13-1 in dual match play and 14-1 overall.
Stanford will host Arizona at noon on April 11 at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium. Arizona State will face Cal at noon on April 11 in Berkeley.
