STANFORD, CALIF. – The Arizona State men’s basketball team fell to Stanford 89-70 late Saturday, snapping a two-game winning streak as ASU fell to 10-10 and 2-5 in the Pac-12.
The Sun Devils came out aggressive on offense in the first half, shooting 15-of-31 (.484) from the field that included 8-of-14 (.571) from beyond the arc.
In his first start of the season Jon Gilling hit all three of his three-pointers, while Tra Holder was active scoring eight early and dishing four assists. In arguably the play of the half Holder stole a Stanford inbound and went the length of the floor to finish a tough and-one.
Both Savon Goodman and Bo Barnes played active roles off the bench, with Goodman picking up points and Barnes nine. Despite great offense, Stanford shot over 70 percent from the field in the first half.

Turnovers proved to problematic early on for the Sun Devils, and the Cardinals responded by scoring 11 points as a direct result of six turnovers. By the time the first half ended the Sun Devils faced a 51-41deficit.
Stanford continued to thrive offensively in the second half, and expanded on their lead early. The Sun Devil’s managed to limit turnovers but struggled to capitalize from the foul line.
Savon Goodman finished with an impressive 18 points and grabbed four rebounds.
Next up, the Sun Devils return home to host Oregon State, Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m. MT. The game will be televised on Pac-12 Network.
