Men's Golf Continues at Pac-10 Championships
Results from round two.

ORINDA, Calif. -- California junior Dan Arroyo fired a 1-under-par 71 during the opening round, then came back to scorch the Orinda Country Club course with a blistering 7-under 65 during the second round, to put the Golden Bears in first place at the halfway point of the 1998 Pacific-10 Men's Golf Championship Monday.
"Dan Arroyo played one of the finest rounds in Pac-10 Tournament history today," said Cal head coach Steve Desimone. "He stayed with our game-plan which was critical because the way Orinda was set up today made it very tough on the players. Overall, I couldn't be more proud of our guys. To play sub-par golf under this kind of pressure and to lead at the midway point is just amazing."
Cal, which shot a combined two-round total of 4-under-par 716, leads second place Arizona (1-under 719) by just three strokes. Stanford (731) is 15 shots off the pace in third, while Oregon (735) and Arizona State (737) hold down the fourth and firth place positions, respectively.
Individually, Washington's Brian Nostler shot a two-round total of 7-under 137, and finished only one shot behind tournament leader, Arroyo.
Masters participant, Joe Kribel of Stanford, is in third three strokes off the pace with Arizona's Andy Barnes and Rory Sabbatini in fourth and fifth. Oregon State's Anthony Arvidson shares fifth with Sabbatini at 1-under 143.
The third round of the 1998 Pac-10 Men's Golf Championship will continue Tuesday at Orinda, with tee times set for 8 a.m. from the No. 1 hole and 8:21 a.m. from the No. 10 hole.
