Ojai, Calif.— For the second straight year, junior Desirae Krawczyk advanced to the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Singles Championship, Thursday in Ojai, Calif. Krawczyk, the sixth-seeded singles player in the tournament, faces top seed Giuliana Olmos of USC, at Noon PT on Friday, for a chance to advance to semifinal competition.
In the invitational draw, senior Joanna Smith won both her matches on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals on Friday to play Zoe Katz of USC at Noon PT.
It was a great day of competitive matches for us,” said head coach Sheila McInerney. I thought Desirae and Joanna played well in winning both of their matches and look forward to watching them play tomorrow.”
Prior to Krawczyk and Smith’s quarterfinal match-ups, the Sun Devils will take the court in doubles with both Krawczyk and partner Stephanie Vlad and Smith with partner Kassidy Jump competing in the main doubles championship bracket beginning at 9 a.m. PT.
“The team is really excited to get back out on the court to start the doubles tomorrow.”
