TEMPE, Ariz. - After completing one of the school's most successful season on the field - semifinal appearance in the Women's College World Series and a No. 3 national ranking - the Arizona State softball team also produced one of the most successful teams on the academic side as four student-athletes (tied for the most in the conference) garnered Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic honors. Senior Erica Beach and juniors Kara Brun and Jennifer Forner achieved first-team honors, while senior Bonnie Brannen claimed second-team accolades.
To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant substitute.
Beach (Pitcher/Designated Player), also a Region VIII Academic All-American pick, earned her second consecutive Pac-10 Academic first team honor. Beach holds a 3.27 GPA in broadcasting.
Brun (Shortstop), who earned national academic All-American honors, also claimed her second straight first-team Academic All-Pac-10 honor. Brun carries a 3.42 GPA in communications.
Forner (Outfield) claims her first Pac-10 Academic first team honor after making the second team last year. Forner holds a 3.30 GPA in exercise science.
Brannen (Catcher) earned her second straight Pac-10 Academic second team honor after holding a 3.37 in biology.
