March 25, 2011

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Four Arizona State women's basketball players - seniors Dymond Simon and Becca Tobin, junior Kali Bennett and sophomore Joy Burke - were named to the Pac-10 Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, announced by the conference on Friday.

Currently a graduate student (liberal studies), Simon (3.89 GPA) was named to the five-member first team. The Sun Devils' leading scorer (13.2 ppg) in 2010-11, Simon was also named All-Pac-10 earlier this month.

Bennett (3.41 GPA/design studies) earned second-team recognition after being named honorable mention in 2010. A participant in all 31 of ASU's games in 2010-11, Bennett led the Sun Devils in blocks for the second consecutive season.

Tobin (3.15 GPA/criminal justice) and Burke (3.46 GPA/marketing) both earned honorable mention notice. Tobin started all 30 games she played and led the team in field goal percentage. Earlier this month she was named All-Pac-10 honorable mention.

Burke, who played in 27 games, came off the bench to make several key contributions for the Sun Devils.

The 2010-11 Sun Devils concluded the season with a 20-11 record and earned their sixth NCAA berth in seven seasons.
