Virginia Beach, Va. - Arizona State University graduate and former student-athlete Amy LePeilbet (Crystal Lake, Ill.) was named as one of 18 players who will suit up for Team USA against its rival Canada for a nationally-televised match on June 26, Team USA head coach Greg Ryan announced today.
LePeilbet, a four-year letterman for head coach Ray Leone from 2000-2003, was a member of the 2004 National Team. At ASU, she led the Sun Devils to the second round of the NCAA tournament in three of her four seasons (2000, 2002, 2003) and is considered one of the most decorated players in ASU history, earning first-team All-American honors in her senior year. She is also one of only three Academic All-Americans in school history, earning the honor twice, as a third-team selection in 2002 and again as a first-team selection in 2003.
The match will be televised live on ESPN2 at 3 p.m. ET and is being hosted by the Virginia Beach Mariners of the USL First Division and the City of Virginia Beach. Fans can also follow the game on ussoccer.com's MatchTracker presented by Philips Electronics.
