Football's Koebensky Named To Rimington Trophy Watch List

May 22, 2013

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State football student-athlete Kody Koebensky has been named to the Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List, it was announced Wednesday.

The Rimington Trophy is awarded to the most outstanding center in NCAA Div. I football and the watch list includes 44 players, including five from the Pac-12.

Koebensky has played in 29 career games and started all 13 games last season at center. He helped pave the way for the Sun Devils rushing attack in 2012 that averaged 205.5 yards per game on the ground, which is the second-best mark in the past 25 seasons.

His pass protection also allowed quarterback Taylor Kelly to lead a balanced offensive attack that helped Kelly establish a school record 67.1 completion percentage and tight end Chris Coyle to rack up 57 receptions, a single season tight end record.

Koebensky graduated this past May with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science, and a minor in sociology and an International Studies Certificate. He is one of eight current football student-athletes to participate in May's graduation ceremonies.

He attended Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., and is one of 26 local products on this season's team.

The winner will be honored at Rimington Trophy Presentation banquet at the Rococo Theater in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 11, 2014.
