Football Places Seven On Pac-12 All-Academic Teams

TEMPE, Ariz. – Seven Arizona State University football student-athletes have been named to Pac-12 All-Academic teams, Conference Commissioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday.

Head coach Todd Graham has now mentored 33 conference all-academic selections in the past four seasons.

Two Sun Devils earned first team honors, including redshirt sophomore linebacker Chans Cox and junior punter Matt Haack. Graduate quarterback Mike Bercovici, senior center Nick Kelly, and senior cornerback Kweishi Brown were named to the second team, and a pair of Devils received honorable mention recognition, including redshirt freshman safety Coltin Gerhart and redshirt junior linebacker Laiu Moeakiola.

This is the third career selection for Bercovici and Moeakiola, who were both honorable mention selections in 2013 and 2014. It is the second career selection for Haack and Kelly, who picked up honorable mention and second team honors, respectively, in 2014.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average or above, be either a starter or significant contributor, and have a minimum of one year of enrollment at the listed institution.
