TEMPE, Ariz. — Graduate quarterback Mike Bercovici (Calabasas, Calif.), senior wide receiver D.J. Foster (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and senior safety Jordan Simone (Sammamish, Wash.) have been selected as team captains for the 2015 football season, Arizona State University Head Football Coach Todd Graham announced Tuesday.
The captains were selected by a team vote, taken after Spring football practices were completed.
Also selected as team co-captains for 2015 were senior cornerback Lloyd Carrington (Dallas, Tex.), senior center Nick Kelly (Orangevale, Calif.) and junior linebacker Laiu Moeakiola (Euless, Tex.).
In a new move in 2015, Coach Graham had the team select special teams captains. Junior placekicker Zane Gonzalez (Deer Park, Tex.) and sophomore defensive back DeAndre Scott (Philadelphia, Pa.), who plays on all special team units, were elected as Special Teams Captains for the upcoming campaign.
Arizona State opens the 2015 season versus Texas A&M on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Houston’s NRG Stadium in the Advocare Texas Kickoff.
