Arizona State Football Pat Tillman Honored
Tillman keeps reeling in the awards
Feb. 11, 1998
Pat Tillman has been announced as one of 20 football finalists for the Annual NACDA Preseason Games Scholar Athlete Postgraduate Scholarships recently released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. Fifteen additional finalists, representing all sports other than football, will be chosen in April.
These 35 finalists will then be reviewed by the NACDA's Blue Ribbon Committee who will select 10 winners who will each receive a $5,000 grant to be used towards postgraduate studies, funded by proceeds from NACDA's two preseason football games, the Kickoff and Pigskin Classic.
Tillman was also an honorable mention selection of the College Football Chronicle's 1997 Unsung Hero All-American Team. The Unsung Hero All-American Team includes players representing Div. I programs as well as athletes from small Div. III schools. The honor rewards self-sacrifice, determination and perseverance, in conjunction with a strong commitment to team, distinguishing each member regardless of the level of competition
