TEMPE, Ariz.—The Arizona State wrestling team is set to send six student-athletes to the 2015 NCAA Wrestling Championships, March 19-21, at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo., and ESPN is set to provide comprehensive coverage of each match.
Representing the Sun Devils on the mat are the No. 3 seeded redshirt Blake Stauffer at 184 pounds, the No. 10 seeded redshirt freshman Christian Pagdilao, junior Ares Carpio at 125 pounds, junior Matt Kraus at 141 pounds, sophomore Oliver Pierce at 157 pounds, and redshirt junior Ray Waters at 174 pounds.
On the sidelines, ASU’s three-time All-American and the 2011 NCAA Champion at 125 pounds, Anthony Robles, will join the ESPN broadcast team for the fourth time. Also on the broadcast team will be former Iowa State head coach Jim Gibbons, Tim Johnson who is known as the “voice of college wrestling”, along with Adam Amin, Shawn Kenney, and Quint Kessenich. Actor Billy Baldwin, a former wrestler at Binghamton will also join the coverage team.
Throughout the three-day competition ESPN will televise all six sessions, every match carried on ESPN3, while the semifinals (March 20) and finals (March 21) will be aired in prime time and ESPNU will televise the first, second (March 19) and quarterfinals (March 20), in addition to the medal round (March 21).
ESPN3 will carry individual mat feeds throughout the entire tournament including the return of Off the Mat during the Championships finals. Additionally, for computer users, ESPN3 will once again offer multi-mat, simultaneous viewing, which allows fans to watch up to four different mats at one time.
