Men's basketball player Eric Boateng has been named ASU's Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 13th. Boateng continued to come through in the clutch games, lifting the Sun Devils to a big victory over USC and UCLA. The wins gave the Sun Devils sole possession of second place in the Pac-10. On senior night, Boateng recorded a double double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Boateng and the Sun Devils now head to the Pac-10 tournament in Los Angeles where they will face Stanford on Thursday at 7:00 PM MT.
This past weekend, Eric Boateng recorded averages of 10.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 3 blocks a game versus the Los Angeles schools. One of Boateng's best performances on the year came on senior night against UCLA where he notched a double double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. The emotional day ended with a fitting performance as Boateng was the only Sun Devil to score in double figures. He continually gave the Sun Devils extra possessions with his 6 offensive rebounds. He also was a huge defensive presence as he recorded 4 blocked shots. In his past 11 games he is 52-of-77 (.675) from the floor and is averaging 11.0 points and 8.5 boards with 15 blocks. Boateng is also first in the Pac-10 in field goal percentage at .653 (109-of-167) and sixth in rebounding (7.0).
