TEMPE, Ariz.—Arizona State diver Elina Eggers and gymnast Mary Atkinson have been selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VIII At-Large team. Eggers earns her second first-team honor, while Atkinson was named all-second team.
The junior diver, who holds a 3.96 GPA in Economics, finished second in the nation on the women’s platform at the 2011 NCAA Championships and earned silver in all three diving events at the 2011 Pac-10 Championships.
Atkinson, the 2011 Pac-10 Scholar Athlete of the Year for gymnastics, was earned All-American honors in 2010 for her ninth-place finish on vault. The senior, who graduated with a 3.72 GPA in Biosciences this month, plans to attend dental school in the fall.
